VETERANS ARE STRUGGLING

Our mission is to help stop veteran suicides by providing a well-trained service dog to veterans with PTSD, TBI, and MST to help them live a more productive life after the military.

After the US's longest war, the VA now estimates that as of 2024 over 1.7 million veterans are currently suffering from mental health struggles like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Veterans are now 3 times more likely to commit suicide than civilians. More veterans have killed themselves than died in combat in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan combined. As of 2024, over 22 veterans commit suicide every day.

Global War on Terrorism veterans are now seeing rapidly rising rates of cancer after 92.6% of those veterans have reported exposure to toxins during the war.

Help Us Save Veteran Lives

We cannot do this work without the support of Americans like you who believe in giving back to those who serve. We do not take salaries at Pop Smoke, so your dollars go directly to helping a veteran in need.

Our Program

What separates Pop Smoke from the rest...

01

Our Dogs

Our dogs are hand selected from a curated list of breeders then sent to volunteer puppy trainers to get them through their basic household training. We assess and test them for suitability as a service dog to ensure they have what it takes.

03

Our Understanding

Our founder is not only a combat wounded veteran but also a person who found therapy in her own service dog, Tobey. Find out more on the About page.

02

Our Training Process

Our veteran recipients receive a well trained and obedient dog from us--after a lengthy process including an imprint trip, intake interviews, and constant communication. After delivery of their dog, the veterans are guided by Pop Smoke to complete their service dog training together with their new animal.

04

Our Community

Pop Smoke is a family and community. It is a place where veterans are volunteering today to give back to their fellow veterans.

Army Veteran

“This dog has changed my life. It's like he has always been here for me. I can sleep at night finally, my heart rate is literally slower, and my flashbacks and nightmares are way less. When I am struggling...it's like he knows."
